How to clean junk files from your computer

As you age your computer, your hard drive will be loaded with files that are considered junk. As a result, your Windows computer performance will decline because your system will have to work hard to retrieve the data that needs to be accessed. Deleting these unwanted files from your computer will improve your application.

Junk files are basically temporary and duplicate files, unused shortcuts, and browsing cache data generated by an Internet browser, program, or Windows program after the start of your computer. When running a program, the system uses system files and non-system to start the task of ensuring that the system will load as quickly as possible. This is why it is necessary to clean them in order to keep the PC healthy and prepared.

You can do manual or automatic cleaning. There are many ways to do this. We will start first with handmade methods.

MANUALLY:

By Deleting browser's all caches.

When you browse the Internet, you also collect unnecessary files since your Windows computer automatically stores your data on sites you visit. Here are the steps to clean up your internet browser.

1. Open your Internet browser. You do not need to have an internet connection to perform the deletion steps.

2. Go to the Toolbar in your browser (note that each Internet browser has different toolbar options so make sure you are familiar with them.) Then find the History option.

3. Clear history as this will clear the memory of all pages of your visited sites.

4. Also clear temporary cookies and files on your browsing history.

Wipe your Windows desktop.

It is important that you also clean your computer desktop to save some space on your hard drive. You should discard unused shortcuts and edit them. Here's how to do it right.

For Windows XP

1. Right-click on a blank space on your Windows desktop and select Edit Thumbnails By.

2. Select Run Wizard Cleanup Desktop.

3. Click the next button.

5. Click Finish to confirm all the changes you have made.

6. Windows will automatically create a folder that stores unused shortcuts. You can always restore icons if you need them.

For Windows 7

1. Right-click on a blank space on your desktop and select the view option.

2. Click on Show Desktop Icons.

3. By doing this, the option will not be checked and your desktop icons will no longer be visible on your desktop. You can restore them by checking the Desktop Thumbnails, too.

Start Disk Cleanup

Disk Cleanup is a built-in app for your Windows operating system. Disk Cleanup is important because it will automatically delete all temporary files stored on your computer. Here are the steps for using Disk Cleanup.

For Windows XP

1. Go to your Windows desktop and click the start button. Select Programs and Accessories and System Tools.

2. Select the Disk Cleanup option under System Tools.

3. You will be given an option to clean it. Select the drive you wish Disk Cleanup to run and let the program analyze it.

4. A dialog box will appear showing you which files can be deleted. Review them and click OK to remove them.

5. By doing this, you are able to free up some space in your computer memory. However, if you still want to free up more space, you can click the Multi-Options tab and click the cleanup button under system restore.

For Windows 7

1.Click on the start button in your windows pc and then search for Disk Cleanup.

2. Launch the program you will be given the option you want to clean it from.

3. At the last Click on OK and wait for complete the analysing of disk.

4. You should review the list of files that can be deleted and click OK if you are satisfied.

5. Like Windows XP, you can clean System Restore points. To do this, Click the Clean System Files option and click Cleanup under System Restore and Shadow Copy.

Automatically:

1. Install software to clean your system by downloading it from a trusted source.

2. Launch the application and let it scan your system and automatically delete those unwanted files from your computer.
